Time Mage?

Well, since we're all anticipating the new expansion "Wings of the Goddess" as well as it's announced three new jobs, I figured that I might as well while away sometime here about what I think about the current job speculations.

These jobs suggestions will mostly be garnered from QCDN and any opinion here is representative of myself and are pure speculations only.

First, we will start off with Time Mage.

Now, Time Mage is this really cool mage that holds mastery over time and space. He's got a neat getup in FFV too.

It has been insisted that Time Mage is a MUST ADD simply because we think we are going to be able to return to the past in the Wings of the Goddess. How are we going to return to the past?
Add Time Mage for time travel! Voila! Although personally I think just adding a NPC will be so much easier and neater on the whole.

On the spell list, most of what defines a Time Mage has already been given to Red Mage and White Mage. This includes Haste, Slow, Gravity, Regen, Escape and Silence. Of course, it'd be mighty cool to get spells like Demi and X-Zone but for balancing reasons, I doubt they will ever add stuff like X-Zone. The remaining spells are quite minimal to base a complete job on.

Of course, Time Mage could just share spells with other jobs, but then where is this uniqueness of the job going to come from? Would people invite Time Mage for Demi which, if added, will probably have a high resist rate? Or would the Time Mage's specialty be in time travel to Wings of the Goddess expansion?

Now, my thoughts on creating a job just as a means of travel between expansions is this. It is quite pointless. Sure, people will all be hopping on the time travel wagon, but who would bring us to the expansion in the first place? Surely that would have to be an NPC else nobody would even get there. Additionally, let's say the hype for the expansion dies down. Maybe with the next expansion (you mean you thought this is the last?) what will happen to the poor Time Mages? Out of a job?

Still, it'd be cool to have Time Mages added. However, it should not be added just as a means for time travel. Maybe they'll get spanking new abilities and spells! Meteor maybe???????
